| Santa has flung open the doors of his North Pole workshop and is sharing his biggest secret: how he really knows who's naughty or nice. The Elf on the Shelf includes a delightful illustrated book and wonderful story, and a darling elf who acts as a scout reporting directly to the North Pole. The fun begins with this great hide-and-seek activity when the entire family comes together, reads the story and names their elf.
Here's how it works:
During the holiday season the elf is positioned throughout the house. The elf observes the children by day and uses his "Christmas magic" to return to the North Pole each night to report to Santa while the children are sleeping. He returns to hide in a new place before the children get out of bed. The children search through the house each morning to find the elf's new hiding place, but if they touch the elf he loses his magic powers. On Christmas Eve, when his duties are complete, he heads back to the North Pole until the next holiday season.
